In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland the year is divided into four seasons. In terms of the calendar, the months of March, April and May belong to spring. Summer includes June, July and August. The months of September, October and November are autumn and winter includes the months of December, January and February. Temperatures can drop sharply in winter and summer is generally warm. Those who are interested in winter sport should visit Switzerland between December and April. An absolute highlight in Switzerland are the ski areas high up on the glacier, where skiing is possible all year round.

In autumn the weather is still nice, sunny and relatively stable during September. The time is referred to as “Altweibersommer” or Indian summer. People like autumn because of endless colours in nature. There are less flowers on display, but pears, grapes and apples hanging on fruit trees. Leaves are changing colour and gradually falling off the trees as cooler and rainier days with fog in the morning. Temperatures keep dropping and the first frost with temperatures dropping to zero or below as autumn continues to the months of October and November.

WINTER in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
As daylight is now less and nights are longer winter is here in all its glory. Especially in early morning trees and meadows can be covered in a white frosty blanket.
