CENTRAL EUROPE ROOTES / ORIGIN

BORN AND RAISED IN GERMANY

Born and raised in Germany, Sonja & Thomas have spent years and many holidays in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Already as children we were lucky enough to spend regular holidays in the mountains and by the sea foremost in Germany.

Later on we were drawn abroad for studies and work in Australia and visited the South Pacific Region multiple times. We worked and lived many years in Switzerland and Denmark and travelled over 60 countries around the globe.

At home and abroad we luckily had opportunities to explore well-known and lesser-known destinations, to see breathtaking landscapes, to know people and cultures and go on a journey of discovery behind the scenes. On our numerous journeys we got to know, appreciate and love Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the South Pacific in particular.

COVID-19

The unprecedented impacts of Covid-19, of course, shattered our plans like a wrecking ball.

Sonja, who was stranded in Central Europe, made use of the time available and spent time to explore off the beaten path, lesser-known destinations and hidden gems. During this time, she visited and experienced her homeland again with a view through a completely different lens.

This was not just a journey along a very bumpy road, it changed our attitude towards travelling dramatic. We never lost faith to reconnect with our loved ones in person. Meanwhile we are on a mission to connect travellers with local people around the globe to enjoy quality, authentic and sustainable travel experiences, which allow a more immersive experience.
