CULINARY TOUR OF AUSTRIA
Day 1: Vienna
Arrival at Vienna airport. The capital of Austria is one of the great cultural centres of Europe and is considered one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is world-famous for baroque architecture, imperial palaces, classical music and of course for its coffee house tradition and traditional Austrian cuisine. In the evening enjoy a romantic dinner boat ride on the Danube.
Day 2: Vienna
Go on a tour of discovery to experience the Naschmarkt and traditional Coffee Houses in Vienna. The Naschmarkt is the most famous market in the city. With around 120 market stalls and bars, the Naschmarkt offers a huge variety of local and international dishes. Immerse yourself in a world full of smells, colours, tastes and history. While exploring the market learn about different cultures and their way of preparing food. Make sure you try some food at the different market stalls. Continue to discover the city's best coffee houses. No other country in Europe can boast of such a traditional coffee culture as Austria. Vienna and coffee have a special relationship and the origins of the Viennese coffee house tradition go back to the end of the 17th century. In 2011, Viennese coffee culture was named an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Day 3: Vienna - Wachau - Linz - Salzburg
After breakfast continue touring to the Wachau region. The Wachau with its first class wines and historical places has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the baroque vaults of the Dürnsteiner Kellerschlössel winery during a private guided tour and learn why Wachau is such an exceptional wine region. During the tasting, you will discover the special of the regional wines (Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd), as well as the grape varieties in the region. Continue to Linz, a city full of baroque and natural wonders. Free time to discover Linz. Make sure to try the famous Linzer Torte a traditional Austrian pastry with red currant jam, named after the city of Linz. Afterwards travel to Salzburg.
Day 4: Salzburg
Attend an Austrian cooking class, where you will make one of the two country's most popular desserts: "Apfelstrudel" (Apple Strudel) and "Salzburger Nockerl" (delicate vanilla-flavoured dumplings).
While waiting for your desserts to come out of the oven, enjoy a local goulash soup for lunch. Afterwards let your taste buds go on a journey and taste the exquisite dessert that you have hand-made yourself. In the later afternoon time at your leisure. Salzburg - art, culture and a unique history. Also, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born here in 1756. Salzburg has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. We highly recommend to discover the heart of Salzburg. Admire the cathedral, enjoy the Mirabell Gardens, explore Getreidegasse and the famous Mozart House. See yourself when you visit the historic centre of Salzburg! Make sure you try the "Original Salzburger Mozartkugel" - a tasty treat made with delicious marzipan, pistachios, nougat and dark chocolate.
Day 5: Salzburg - Innsbruck
Continue your journey to Innsbruck. Fall in love with the Tyrolean capital and its local cuisine! Enjoy a 3-hour private walking food tour where you can dive into the Tyrolean cuisine with its local specialties and delights. Enjoy a Tyrolean Evening with traditional music and Tyrolean dances (optional).
Day 6: Innsbruck - Bregenz
After breakfast, you will leave the Tyrol region and continue to the city of Bregenz which lies on the shores of Lake Constance. Here, you can experience first hand art and process of distilling typical schnapps during a guided tour of a refined distillery. You will get a close look at the origin of the raw materials used in the distillation process and the storage of schnapps. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to taste schnapps and fine liqueurs. In the afternoon, a private guided culinary tour of Bregenz awaits you, during which you will sample selected delicacies and learn about the city's history and its sweets.
Day 7: Bregenz
Today, enjoy Lake Constance and its surroundings at your own pace. Take a cable car (optional) or hike up to the famous "Pfänder" ( local mountain on Lake Constance) and enjoy the panoramic view of Lake Constance. You may also wish to visit the town of Lindau which is located directly at the border of Austria and Germany.
Day 8: Bregenz - Munich
Start your day with breakfast, before you travel to Munich Airport where your tour ends.
