GERMANY’S UNESCO CULTURAL HERITAGE

Day 1: Frankfurt - Romantic Rhine - Cologne

Travel to Rüdesheim and visit the city. Embark on a boat for a tour along the most beautiful and famous stretch of the Rhine: the Lorelei valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then continue to Cologne for a sightseeing tour of the city and a visit to the most famous cathedral in Germany.

Day 2: Cologne - Essen - Münster

Cologne is the gateway to the Ruhr River basin, also known as the cradle of industrialization in Germany. More than 300 coal mines and large steel factories created an enormous industrial region that is now gradually being converted into a cultural area.

Day 3: Münster - Bremen - Hamburg

After breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Münster, famous for its beautiful historic center where antique buildings coexist harmoniously with modern development. Continue to Bremen. Set on the banks of the Weser River, Bremen is known around the world as the city of the Bremen Town Musicians from the Brothers Grimm fairytale. The statue of the musicians next to the beautiful city hall and the statue of Roland have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. In the afternoon travel to Hamburg.

Day 4: Hamburg

Free day at your leisure to explore Hamburg. Although 100 km from the ocean, Hamburg owes its fame to its world renowned port. Hamburg has more bridges than Venice and features many lovely attractions, such as the Michel Church (the city’s symbol) and the Jungfernstieg and City Hall.

Day 5: Hamburg - Lübeck - Schwerin

Travel from Hamburg to Lübeck. This city with its lovely old houses was once one of the most important centers of the Hanseatic League and was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987. Continue to Schwerin, famous for its castle that stands on an island in the center of town.

Day 6: Schwerin - Berlin

Visit the Schwerin Castle and then continue to Berlin, the capital of Germany. A divided city during the Cold War, Berlin is now one of the most important cultural centers in Europe and boasts exquisite museums, such as the Pergamon, and fascinating architecture, such as Potsdam Square.

Day 7: Berlin

In the morning visit some of the many attractions of Berlin, including the Brandenburg Gate, the Island of Museums (a UNESCO Site) and the German Parliament building. In the afternoon enjoy a pleasant river cruise on the Spree (approx. 1 hour) and some free time.

Day 8: Berlin - Potsdam - Weimar

Visit Potsdam and the Sanssouci Palace (UNESCO). The former residence of the Prussian kings is a lovely city filled with palaces and gardens. Next travel to Weimar, the home town of famous personalities such as Goethe, Schiller, Bach and Liszt.

Day 9: Weimar - Bamberg

Sightseeing tour of Weimar. The cradle of the Bauhaus movement and the 1999 European Cultural Capital, Weimar features an amazing collection of classic architecture. In the afternoon continue to Bamberg, located in northern Bavaria. The town is famous for its beer and features an old city center (UNESCO).

Day 10: Bamberg – Nuremberg - Munich

In the morning briefly pass through Nuremberg, a metropolis that has preserved much of its medieval charm. Our final destination today is Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Munich is known around the world for its Oktoberfest, the largest beer festival in the world, the Bayern München football team and the BMW cars that are manufactured here.

Day 11: Munich

In the morning visit the city’s best known attractions, such as the Marienplatz square with the elegant city hall, the bustling Viktualienmarkt with delicious gourmet products and the Hofbräuhaus brewery. In the afternoon you are free to explore Munich at your leisure and relax in a beer garden with a glass of local beer.

Day 12: Munich – Wieskirche - Füssen

On the way to Füssen visit Oberammergau, a picturesque town known for its Passion play, impressive crafts and the Wieskirche, an UNESCO Heritage monument and an important pilgrimage destination in Bavaria.

Day 13: Füssen – Neuschwanstein Castle - Lake Constance - Black Forest

In the morning visit Neuschwanstein Castle, built by Ludwig II. Today, Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most famous and most visited attractions in Germany. Continue via the beautiful region around Allgäu and
Lake Constance to the Black Forest area.

Day 14: Black Forest - Heidelberg

In the morning travel trough beautiful Black Forest while enjoying magnificent views of forest and canyons on the way to the Rhine valley. In the afternoon, arrive in Heidelberg, situated on the Neckar river.

Day 15: Heidelberg - Frankfurt

After visiting the Heidelberg Castle and the historic centre, your tour ends at Frankfurt Airport.
