Day 1: Zurich - Chur

Welcome to Switzerland! Upon arrival at Zurich Airport, travel by train to Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland and gateway to the Swiss Alps. Enjoy a scenic journey through beautiful landscapes as you make your way into the heart of Graubünden. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and explore Chur’s charming Old Town with its narrow streets, historic buildings and relaxed alpine atmosphere.

Depending on your arrival time, this day program can be adjusted to your specific needs and wishes. Additional nights in Zurich or Chur can also be added.

Day 2: Bernina Express: Chur - Tirano

Today you experience one of the most spectacular train journeys in the world: the Bernina Express. Departing from Chur, the UNESCO-listed railway route climbs through dramatic mountain scenery, past glaciers, viaducts and alpine valleys, connecting Switzerland and Italy. Cross the iconic Bernina Pass and descend into the warm Italian town of Tirano. Enjoy free time to explore Tirano’s historic centre, elegant palaces from the 16th–18th centuries and the famous Baroque Marian shrine. Overnight stay in Tirano.

Day 3: Bernina Express: Tirano - Chur

Return journey on the Bernina Express from Tirano back to Chur, offering a new perspective of the breathtaking alpine landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy free time to explore Chur. Discover the Roman-Gothic Cathedral, the charming Old Town, the Rätisches Museum, the art gallery and the Natural History Museum. Chur beautifully reflects the meeting point of Latin and Germanic cultures.

Day 4: Glacier Express: Chur - Brig - Interlaken

After breakfast, board the world-famous Glacier Express for an unforgettable panoramic journey through the Swiss Alps. Travel through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, often called the “Grand Canyon of Switzerland” and cross the stunning Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres above sea level. Enjoy sweeping views of snow-covered peaks, deep valleys and picturesque alpine villages. Continue via Brig and onward by train to Interlaken, beautifully located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

Day 5: Interlaken - Jungfraujoch “Top of Europe” - Interlaken

A highlight of your journey awaits today: the excursion to Jungfraujoch, the “Top of Europe”. Travel by cogwheel railway through the Eiger, reaching Europe’s highest railway station at 3,454 metres. At the summit, discover a spectacular world of eternal snow and ice, including the Ice Palace, the Sphinx Terrace and breathtaking views over the Aletsch Glacier and surrounding 4,000-metre peaks. Return to Interlaken in the afternoon.

Day 6: Interlaken - Zurich

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Interlaken at your leisure. Take a final stroll, enjoy the alpine views or simply unwind. At midday, travel by train back to Zurich, where your Swiss rail winter journey concludes.

Depending on your departure and onward travel plans, this day program can be adjusted to your needs and wishes. Additional nights and experiences can also be added. Your journey can end in Zurich or continue by train to any destination in Switzerland.
